Residence Hall Association (RHA) Executive Board

RHA's Executive Board is made up of three (3) elected executive positions, seven (7) appointed officers, and two (2) professional staff advisors. These individuals serve the residence hall population as the collective voice for those living on-campus to improve the residential experience. Also, these individuals work to provide a variety of exciting and engaging event opportunities throughout the year to build community and amplify the Nebraska experience.

Below you can find each elected executive and appointed officer for the current academic year as well as more information about the duties of each role.

Elected Executive Position Responsibilities

President
  • Time Commitment: Approximately 11 hours per week
  • Help provide direction and vision for RHA and the Executive Board.
  • Set RHA Senate agendas, run RHA Senate meetings, report all Executive Board actions to RHA Senate, and serve as a tie breaker for RHA Senate.
  • Act as a representative and liaison to campus groups, committees, organizations, and University Housing administration.
  • Serve on or appoint a representative for the Parking Advisory Committee, Police Advisory Committee, & Executive Vice Chancellor Board Meetings.
  • Appoint Directors and National Communications Coordinator along with the Vice Presidents (Internal and External).
  • Chair the RHA Hall Improvement Committee.
  • Submit legislation for approval to the RHA Senate on behalf of the Executive Board.
  • Host weekly office hours and/or table for RHA.
  • Attend and participate in fall and spring Hall Government Trainings.
  • Represent the University of Nebraska-Lincoln at regional (MACURH) and national (NACURH) conferences and President chats.
External Vice President
  • Time Commitment: Approximately 8-10 hours per week
  • Set RHA Executive Board agendas and run RHA Executive Board meetings.
  • Assume the duties and responsibilities of the President in their absence or vacancy.
  • Assist in training RHA Senators on roles and requirements.
  • Track RHA Senator attendance and RHA Senate meeting quorum.
  • Responsible for informing RHA Senators of attendance concerns and manage RHA Senator impeachment processes.
  • Create and manage all RHA Senator placards.
  • Provide support for and meet regularly with Directors.
  • Host weekly office hours and/or table for RHA.
  • Attend and participate in fall and spring Hall Government Trainings.
  • Coordinate the End of the Year recognition banquet for Hall Government in conjunction with NRHH.
Internal Vice President
  • Time Commitment: Approximately 8-10 hours per week
  • Manage RHA budget and finalize all RHA spending.
  • Submit all necessary payment requests and forms on behalf of RHA as outlined by Student Organization Financial Services (SOFS).
  • Each semester, submit spending guidelines and budget allocations for RHA Senate approval.
  • Report to the RHA Senate and RHA Executive Board on current allocations, expenditures, and changes to spending policies and procedures.
  • Monitor compliance of RHA policies and requirements for funding allocations.
  • Take meeting minutes at RHA Senate and RHA Executive Board meetings and distribute afterwards.
  • Assist President with setting agendas and preparing paperwork for RHA Senate meetings.
  • Maintain the RHA website, Teams, listservs, and records for the RHA Senate and RHA Executive Board.
  • Maintain the RHA office including, but not limited to, mail, displayed information, and office supplies.
  • Host weekly office hours and/or table for RHA.
  • Attend and participate in fall and spring Hall Government Trainings.

Appointed Officer Position Responsibilities

National Communications Coordinator (NCC)
  • Time Commitment: Approximately 7 hours per week
  • Advertise involvement in regional (MACURH) and national (NACURH) opportunities, grants, and awards.
  • Select and coordinate delegations to attend MACURH and NACURH conferences.
  • Attend MACURH and NACURH business meetings and chats as the official voting representative of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
  • Report to RHA Senate and RHA Executive Board on MACURH and NACURH business matters that impact the campus and its affiliation status.
  • Maintain resource files of program materials acquired at conferences.
  • Serve as a general programming resource for RHA and Programming Boards.
  • Coordinate submission of all MACURH and NACURH awards on behalf of RHA.
  • Host weekly office hours and/or table for RHA.
  • Attend and participate in fall and spring Hall Government Trainings.
Director of Diversity & Inclusion
  • Time Commitment: Approximately 6 hours per week
  • Advocate for social change and equity in the residence halls and broader UNL community through initiatives and programs.
  • Identify opportunities for collaboration with campus and external partners to support initiatives and programs that foster inclusion.
  • Coordinate events showcasing diverse cultural perspectives, inclusive education, advocacy for marginalized communities, and community service. 
  • Set agendas and chair meetings for their committee.
  • Report to the RHA Senate and the RHA Executive Board all actions of their committee.
  • Host weekly office hours and/or table for RHA.
  • Attend and participate in fall and spring Hall Government Trainings.
Director of Public Relations
  • Time Commitment: Approximately 6 hours per week
  • Develop "First 6 Week" strategies with emphasis on recruitment for RHA.
  • Create PR strategies alongside executive leadership to enhance RHA's visibility, reputation, and reach.
  • Promote events and increase resident engagement through management of RHA social media accounts.
  • Oversee the RHA Movie Channel, new requests, and advertisement clips.
  • Set agendas and chair meetings for their committee.
  • Report to the RHA Senate and the RHA Executive Board all actions of their committee.
  • Host weekly office hours and/or table for RHA.
  • Attend and participate in fall and spring Hall Government Trainings.
Director of Special Events
  • Time Commitment: Approximately 6 hours per week
  • Develop and implement overall strategies for "special events" including, but not limited to, Homecoming, Turkey Trot, RHA Dance, and Battle of the Halls. 
  • Manage all logistical aspects of "special events" and coordinate on-site, day-of activities and troubleshooting, if needed. 
  • Oversee event planning, delegation of tasks, and providing guidance and support. 
  • Foster relationships with campus and external partners. 
  • Set agendas and co-chair meetings for their committee.
  • Report to the RHA Senate and the RHA Executive Board all actions of their committee.
  • Host weekly office hours and/or table for RHA.
  • Attend and participate in fall and spring Hall Government Trainings.
Director of Programming
  • Time Commitment: Approximately 6 hours per week
  • Oversee the design, development, and execution of programs including, but not limited to, BINGO! Nights, cooking classes, sporting event watch parties.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to establish short- and long-term programming goals.
  • Manage program budgets and timelines - ensuring resources are allocated appropriately. 
  • Foster relationships with campus and external partners.
  • Set agendas and co-chair meetings for their committee.
  • Report to the RHA Senate and the RHA Executive Board all actions of their committee.
  • Host weekly office hours and/or table for RHA.
  • Attend and participate in fall and spring Hall Government Trainings.
Speaker of the Senate
  • Time Commitment: Approximately 5 hours per week
  • Serve as a current RHA Senator representing their residence hall and/or complex.
  • Serve as the RHA Senate’s representative to the RHA Executive Board.
  • Act as a resource to RHA Senators and outside groups about how to draft and present legislation/bills to RHA.
  • Monitor bill submissions and work with officers to ensure review and communication to RHA Senate.
  • Ensure that all bills have mandatory wording, a budget line, and an itemized budget.
  • Take on additional projects and duties as assigned by the RHA Executive Board and/or RHA Senate.
  • Host weekly office hours and/or table for RHA.
  • Attend and participate in fall and spring Hall Government Trainings.
National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH) Liaison
  • Assist the President and External Vice President with recognition efforts of RHA Senators for their work on behalf of residents.
  • Organize End of the Year awards along with RHA executives.
  • Ensure all event coordinators submit an "Of the Month" (OTM) for their events. 
  • Report to the RHA Senate and the RHA Executive Board on NRHH activity.
  • Attend RHA Senate and RHA Executive Board meetings. 
  • Attend and participate in fall and spring Hall Government Trainings.
