ELECTIONS FOR THE 2025-2026 ACADEMIC YEAR HAVE CLOSED.
The Residence Hall Association (RHA) consists of an Executive Board made up for student leaders, professional staff advisors, and numerous student Senators representing each residence hall/complex across the UNL City and East Campus.
Every spring, RHA hosts online elections and position appointments for the following academic year to fill positions in the RHA Executive Board. Anyone who is living on-campus in University Housing the following year is welcome to apply and run for a position on the Executive Board.

General Requirements
- Have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher
- First-Year students will be evaluated on their first semester of courses
- Be in good disciplinary standing
- Be a current general member (resident) of the UNL Residence Halls
- Live in the residence halls during the duration of their term in office
- Cannot serve in any graduate or professional staff housing positions during the duration of their term
- If elected, attend the Officer Transition Meeting, to be scheduled following elections
- If elected, attend Fall and Spring Hall Government Officer Training unless excused by RHA President and/or RHA Advisor
- Will be scheduled towards the end of spring semester
Special Position-Specific Requirements
- President, Internal Vice President, & External Vice President - Have lived in the residence halls for at least one semester
- President - Cannot serve in the role of Resident Assistant
Election Process and Timeline (Spring 2025) - RHA President, External Vice President, & Internal Vice President
- Monday, March 24 - Applications for RHA senior executive board roles (President, Internal Vice President, & External Vice President) are due, submitted here:
- Tuesday, March 25 – Presentations of senior executive candidates to the RHA Senate
- Each candidate will be allocated five minutes to present to the RHA Senate and all attending guests and 5 minutes for questions, extendable up to 10 minutes
- March 31-April 2 – Electronic elections
- Candidates information will be provided to all residents via email
- Ballot will show the final vote of support from the RHA Senate
- Tuesday, April 8 – Results of the electronic election announced to the RHA Senate following confirmations with candidates
Appointment Process and Timeline (Spring 2025) - National Communications Coordinator (NCC) & Directors
- Wednesday, April 9 – Applications for National Communications Coordinator (NCC) & Directors are due
- Wednesday, April 9 – Monday, April 14 – Interviews & selection of Directors
- Each position will go through a 15-30 minute interview with the RHA President, Internal Vice President, & External Vice President (Executives) - Elect, guided by the RHA Advisor & informed of the status of their candidacy before
- Tuesday, April 15 – Presentations of NCC candidates & selection by the RHA Senate
- Each candidate for NCC will be allocated four minutes to present to the RHA Senate and all attending guests and 5 minutes for questions, extendable up to 10 minutes
- The current NCC (unless they are reapplying for the position) will provide no more than a 2-minute dialogue on who they support for the role of NCC
- The RHA Senate will discuss and vote to confirm the NCC for the next academic year
- Tuesday, April 15 – RHA Executives – Elect present their selected candidates for Director positions for confirmation by the RHA Senate
- The RHA Senate will be presented with a bill for each position with a listing of all eligible candidates who have applied and reasons for the selection of the final candidate
- The RHA Senate will be given a chance to question the presenters for up to five minutes (extendable by 10 minutes)
- The RHA Senate may then choose to confirm or deny the candidate selected. If a candidate is not approved, the RHA Executives – Elect may choose from the remaining candidates who wish to be considered, re-open the appointment process, or fail the search.
RHA Elected Positions - Responsibilities & Benefits
President
Responsibilities
- Time Commitment: Approximately 11 hours per week
- Help provide direction and vision for RHA and the Executive Board.
- Set RHA Senate agendas, run RHA Senate meetings, report all Executive Board actions to RHA Senate, and serve as a tie breaker for RHA Senate.
- Act as a representative and liaison to campus groups, committees, organizations, and University Housing administration.
- Serve on or appoint a representative for the Parking Advisory Committee, Police Advisory Committee, & Executive Vice Chancellor Board Meetings.
- Appoint Directors and National Communications Coordinator along with the Vice Presidents (Internal and External).
- Chair the RHA Hall Improvement Committee.
- Submit legislation for approval to the RHA Senate on behalf of the Executive Board.
- Host weekly office hours and/or table for RHA.
- Attend and participate in fall and spring Hall Government Trainings.
- Represent the University of Nebraska-Lincoln at regional (MACURH) and national (NACURH) conferences and President chats.

External Vice President
Responsibilities
- Time Commitment: Approximately 8-10 hours per week
- Set RHA Executive Board agendas and run RHA Executive Board meetings.
- Assume the duties and responsibilities of the President in their absence or vacancy.
- Assist in training RHA Senators on roles and requirements.
- Track RHA Senator attendance and RHA Senate meeting quorum.
- Responsible for informing RHA Senators of attendance concerns and manage RHA Senator impeachment processes.
- Create and manage all RHA Senator placards.
- Provide support for and meet regularly with Directors.
- Host weekly office hours and/or table for RHA.
- Attend and participate in fall and spring Hall Government Trainings.
- Coordinate the End of the Year recognition banquet for Hall Government in conjunction with NRHH.
Benefits

Internal Vice President
Responsibilities
- Time Commitment: Approximately 8-10 hours per week
- Manage RHA budget and finalize all RHA spending.
- Submit all necessary payment requests and forms on behalf of RHA as outlined by Student Organization Financial Services (SOFS).
- Each semester, submit spending guidelines and budget allocations for RHA Senate approval.
- Report to the RHA Senate and RHA Executive Board on current allocations, expenditures, and changes to spending policies and procedures.
- Monitor compliance of RHA policies and requirements for funding allocations.
- Take meeting minutes at RHA Senate and RHA Executive Board meetings and distribute afterwards.
- Assist President with setting agendas and preparing paperwork for RHA Senate meetings.
- Maintain the RHA website, Teams, listservs, and records for the RHA Senate and RHA Executive Board.
- Maintain the RHA office including, but not limited to, mail, displayed information, and office supplies.
- Host weekly office hours and/or table for RHA.
- Attend and participate in fall and spring Hall Government Trainings.

RHA Appointed Positions - Responsibilities & Benefits
National Communications Coordinator (NCC)
Responsibilities
- Time Commitment: Approximately 7 hours per week
- Advertise involvement in regional (MACURH) and national (NACURH) opportunities, grants, and awards.
- Select and coordinate delegations to attend MACURH and NACURH conferences.
- Attend MACURH and NACURH business meetings and chats as the official voting representative of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
- Report to RHA Senate and RHA Executive Board on MACURH and NACURH business matters that impact the campus and its affiliation status.
- Maintain resource files of program materials acquired at conferences.
- Serve as a general programming resource for RHA and Programming Boards.
- Coordinate submission of all MACURH and NACURH awards on behalf of RHA.
- Host weekly office hours and/or table for RHA.
- Attend and participate in fall and spring Hall Government Trainings.
Benefits

Director of Public Relations
Responsibilities
- Time Commitment: Approximately 6 hours per week
- Develop "First 6 Week" strategies with emphasis on recruitment for RHA.
- Create PR strategies alongside executive leadership to enhance RHA's visibility, reputation, and reach.
- Promote events and increase resident engagement through management of RHA social media accounts.
- Oversee the RHA Movie Channel, new requests, and advertisement clips.
- Set agendas and chair meetings for their committee.
- Report to the RHA Senate and the RHA Executive Board all actions of their committee.
- Host weekly office hours and/or table for RHA.
- Attend and participate in fall and spring Hall Government Trainings.

Director of Diversity & Inclusion
Responsibilities
- Time Commitment: Approximately 6 hours per week
- Advocate for social change and equity in the residence halls and broader UNL community through initiatives and programs.
- Identify opportunities for collaboration with campus and external partners to support initiatives and programs that foster inclusion.
- Coordinate events showcasing diverse cultural perspectives, inclusive education, advocacy for marginalized communities, and community service.
- Set agendas and chair meetings for their committee.
- Report to the RHA Senate and the RHA Executive Board all actions of their committee.
- Host weekly office hours and/or table for RHA.
- Attend and participate in fall and spring Hall Government Trainings.

Director of Programming
Responsibilities
- Time Commitment: Approximately 6 hours per week
- Oversee the design, development, and execution of programs including, but not limited to, BINGO! Nights, cooking classes, sporting event watch parties.
- Collaborate with executive leadership to establish short- and long-term programming goals.
- Manage program budgets and timelines - ensuring resources are allocated appropriately.
- Foster relationships with campus and external partners.
- Set agendas and co-chair meetings for their committee.
- Report to the RHA Senate and the RHA Executive Board all actions of their committee.
- Host weekly office hours and/or table for RHA.
- Attend and participate in fall and spring Hall Government Trainings.

Director of Special Events
Responsibilities
- Time Commitment: Approximately 6 hours per week
- Develop and implement overall strategies for "special events" including, but not limited to, Homecoming, Turkey Trot, RHA Dance, and Battle of the Halls.
- Manage all logistical aspects of "special events" and coordinate on-site, day-of activities and troubleshooting, if needed.
- Oversee event planning, delegation of tasks, and providing guidance and support.
- Foster relationships with campus and external partners.
- Set agendas and co-chair meetings for their committee.
- Report to the RHA Senate and the RHA Executive Board all actions of their committee.
- Host weekly office hours and/or table for RHA.
- Attend and participate in fall and spring Hall Government Trainings.
