There are many ways for hall residents to get involved with residence hall government! All of the opportunities listed below are great ways to gain leadership and teamwork experience while making the residence halls a great place to live!
Local Hall Governments
Every hall or complex has a hall government that residents can be a part of! Elections take place in either the Fall or Spring, depending on the hall. These local hall governments run events and plan initiatives for the hall.
Each hall government has at least one representative that serve on the RHA Senate. The number of representatives from each hall is based on population of the hall. The role of these senators is to attend the weekly senate meetings and be the voice of their hall's residents. The senators vote on legislation and are responsible for communication between their hall government and the RHA Senate. Senators are also required to be a part of at least one committee in RHA.
Any resident of the halls can be a member of an RHA committee! Committee meeting times are worked out with the members of the committee during the year, so times are flexible! Applications can be found here. Applications can be submitted directly to the RHA email, email@example.com. If you have any further questions feel free to contact us!
RHA Executive Board
The RHA Executive Board consists of ten members. The president, vice president, and financial coordinator are elected by all students living in residence halls in the Spring for a year-long term. The Speaker of the Senate is elected by the Senate in the Fall. The chairs of the four RHA committees (Diversity, Inclusivity, and Service - Resident Success and Wellness - Advocacy Residential Enhancement - Presidents) and the Chief of Staff are appointed by the president. The National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH) appoints their own representative that also serves on the RHA Executive Board.
All hall residents are welcome to attend hall government meetings! The RHA Senate meets every Tuesday during the regular academic year at 7 PM in the Pioneer room on the first floor of the Willa Cather Dining Complex.
