Why did you get involved in RHA?

I first began my involvement in RHA my freshman year as a senator and was initially unsure as to what to expect from it. I was quite surprised with the experience I obtained. I worked with many great individuals that shared a passion for making the community a better place. As a senate, we did many things for the residents at UNL. My favorite being the Green Bandana Project which helped raise awareness for mental awareness. I wanted  to continue making an impact on campus and found RHA to be the perfect place to work with other to make UNL a better place.

Position Duties
  • Helps provide direction & vision for RHA and Executive Board.
  • Sets agenda and runs Executive Board meetings for RHA.
  • Acts as an Association representative and liaison to campus groups, committees, and organizations.
  • Appoints Committee Chairs & Chief of Staff.
  • Submits legislation for approval to the RHA Senate on behalf of the Executive Board.
  • Represents UNL at regional (MACURH) & national (NACURH) conferences and President chats.

Why did you get involved in RHA?

I decided to become a part of RHA because I wanted to help the residents at UNL enjoy their time in the halls, and cultivate a more fun and welcoming environment.

Position Duties
  • Sets agenda, runs RHA Senate meetings, and makes decisions on RHA Senate tie votes.
  • Assumes the duties of the President in their temproary absence.
  • Manages training for RHA Senate members on roles and requirements.
  • Tracks senator attendance, quorom, and manages Senator impeachment processes.
  • Plans the end of the year recognition banquet for RHA & NRHH in conjunction with NRHH.

Why did you get involved in RHA?

I decided to join RHA because I wanted to get involved my freshman year.  RHA gave me the opportunity to be a representative for my residents and give back to them.  RHA is a fantastic organization that promotes teamwork, inclusivity, and leadership growth in its members, no matter your role.

Position Duties
  • Manages RHA's budget and keeps all RHA financial records.
  • Submits spending guidelines and budget allocations for Senate approval each semester.
  • Reports to the RHA Senate & Executive Board on current allocations and expenditures.
  • Updates RHA Executive Board & Senate on changes to spending policies and procedures.
  • Submit all payment requests & associated forms on behalf of RHA as outlined by SOFS.
  • Monitors compliance of RHA policies and requirements for funding allocations.

Why did you get involved in RHA?
I joined RHA as a way to connect with others, help benefit my peers in the residence halls, and to grow as a leader.
Position Duties
  • Take and distribute minutes at meetings of the RHA Senate and Executive Board.
  • Maintain internal files, records, and archives for the RHA Senate & Executive Board.
  • Be responsible for all paperwork preparations and placards for RHA Senate meetings.
  • Maintain the RHA office including mail, office hours, messages, display board, etc.
  • Maintain the RHA website and update it with upcoming and heard bills.
  • Be knowledgeable of and assist in upholding the bylaws, constitution, and organizational procedures of RHA.

Why did you get involved in RHA?
I simply wish to provide the best experience and coordination of events for the students as much as possible. I want them to feel welcomed and involved.
Position Duties
  • Advertise and encourage involvement in regional (MACURH) and national (NACURH) opportunities, grants, and awards.
  • Select & coordinate delegations to attend MACURH and NACURH conferences.
  • Attend regional and national business meetings and chats as the official voting representative of UNL.
  • Report to RHA on regional and national business matters that impact the campus and its affiliation status with NACURH.
  • Maintain resource files of program materials acquired at conferences, and serve as a general programming resource for RHA and local hall governments.
  • Coordinate submission of all regional and national awards on behalf of RHA.

Why did you get involved in RHA?
I decided to join RHA because of my interest in serving my community in a higher position. I think student involvement is incredibly important in maintaining a healthy college environment, and beyond thrilled to help in any way I can. RHA gives its members not only the opportunity to be a part of a student body organization, but also use those skills to develop communities within residence halls and across campus.
Position Duties
  • Act as the voice for RHA Senators on the RHA Executive Board.
  • Serve as a resource to Senators and outside groups about how to draft and present legislation to RHA.
  • Watch for bill submissions and format bills as necessary for RHA Senate review.
  • Ensure that all bills have mandatory wording, a budget line, and an itemized budget.
  • Chair meetings of the RHA Constitution & Bylaws Revision Committee when convened.

Why did you get involved in RHA?

I decided to join RHA because it seemed like a really great program to get involved with. Residence life is extremely important to having a successful year at college, and I really wanted to contribute to making UNL a positive, inclusive, and welcoming environment. I know first hand how difficult it can be to adjust to college life, but RHA does some really amazing things to help students and I thought that made it stand out amongst other programs.

  • Assists in promoting events and increasing resident engagement through management of all social media accounts for RHA.
  • Advertises and manages the RHA Movie Channel, new movie requests, and advertisement clips.
  • Coordinates feedback from residents and RHA Senators on RHA and RHA's advocacy iniatives.
  • Coordinate events around social media engagement, the RHA Movie Channel,  sustainability, and hall improvement.

Why did you get involved in RHA?

I joined RHA to share my motive of helping students find a home at our university. RHA is an organization that strives to increase student involvement and creates opportunities to meet a diverse population. Joining meant more than obtaining a leadership position; it means helping others become leaders in the residence halls and assisting students in easing their college experience by feeling welcome. It’s a program that genuinely wants the best for the students, and I am proud to be part of that.

I decided to join RHA because I love helping others. I believe it is a great opportunity to be the bridge that connects my peers closer to the resources campus has to offer.

What is your favorite part/memory of NRHH?
My favorite memory has to be quarter auction. Who doesn’t love rallying up your loose change and spending it on such a worthy cause? It is great to be able to attend this event and know just how much good is going on; from supporting St. Baldricks to meeting new people, it is truly an amazing night!

  • Assist the President & Vice President with recognition efforts of RHA Senators for their work on behalf of residents.
  • Work with the RHA Treasurer to ensure that all approved events submit an Of the Month (OTM) nomination.
  • Attend RHA Executive Board & Senate meetings and give updates to RHA on behalf of NRHH.

Why did you get involved in RHA & MACURH?

I got involved with RHA because I wanted to help find ways to improve our campus community and provide the best experiences for our residents. Through my involvement with RHA, I also had the opportunity to experience MACURH for the first time. I quickly found a second family within the organization and realized that through MACURH I could continue to help students and schools across our region and nation. 

Position Duties
  • Manages financial records of the regional charter of RHA & NRHH (MACURH), including budget maintenance, checkbook balancing, check writing, and financial reporting for the region.
  • Transcribes, shares, and maintains records of all regional business meetings.
  • Maintains, updates, and serves as interpreter of the MACURH bylaws and policies.
  • Promotes & facilitates all regional scholarships & grants.
  • Coordinates regional spirit packs for regional and national conferences.
  • Coordinates the Legislation & Development Committee and all other standing committees and task forces for the region.
  • Represents MACURH on the national charter of RHA & NRHH (NACURH) Board of Directors.
  • Confirms member school voting rights with the national office before official votes.

What is your favorite part of being an advisor?
I love seeing the amazing things my students are able to accomplish and the excitement they have for serving others. The impact they can have is a constant reminder of the importance of hall government in helping to support the residence hall experience.

My favorite part of being an advisor is watching students accomplish more than they ever thought they could!
